eBooks

You must have a library account to access the eBook collection. If you don't know your library number or password, contact a librarian today. Step by step directions are listed below. 
 

  1. Download the Libby app to your device

  2. Open the app. it will prompt you if you have a library card. Select "yes"

  3. Choose to "search for a library"

  4. Type "sails" into the search bar. Choose SAILS Library Network

  5. Click "sign in with my card"

  6. Under Sails Library Patrons there is a tab that says "9 more". Click the tab. Then choose "MassCat Library Patrons

  7. You will then be prompted to enter your 14 digit library card number, after you hit "Next" you will be prompted to add your password. If you do not know your card number or your password, call the library and a staff member will help you. 

  8. It will now say that you are signed in and show a picture of a library card with your number on it. Click next and start enjoying Ebooks and Eaudiobooks!

To add the other networks (CLAMS, CW MARS, Minuteman Library Network, Merrimack Valley Library Network, NOBLE, Old Colony Library Network) and the Boston Public Library, follow these steps:

  1. Click on the three bars on the bottom center of the Libby app

  2. Select "Add a Library"

  3. Search for the library network that you want to add (ex: CLAMS) and select it

  4. Click on "Sign in with my card"

  5. Choose “MassCat Library Patrons”

  6. Follow the prompts to type in your library card number information

  7. Repeat steps to add all of the networks and the Boston Public Library

Inter-Library Loan

If the library does not have the item you are looking for, it can be ordered for a temporary loan from another library. You can search through the Masscat system by logging into your account from the catalog. If the item you want is not available there, you can expand your search to Commonwealthcatalog.org

Borrowing Information

Anyone in central Mass can get a library card; you do not need to reside in Rutland. Fill out a library application, available at the circulation desk, and bring proof of address.

Length of Loan

Books: Two Weeks - Multiple renewals permitted
DVDs: One Week - One week renewal permitted
Periodicals: Two Weeks - Multiple renewals permitted
Museum Passes: Passes circulate for one day only

Fines

The Rutland Library does not charge overdue fees for late books or periodicals. However, in lieu of fines, we are always collecting for the Food Pantry. Please bring in food donations whenever we are open.
